Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful weekend. During the month of April, the focus is going to be love. I realize that typically February is considered the month of love. I also realize that love is probably one of the most challenging and complicated topics to discuss because it provokes so many emotions, memories and thoughts for each of us. Nevertheless, we will embark on this journey of exploring love. Before you can have a healthy discussion of a topic. You must define it. Today, I would like to share various definitions of healthy love.
“To truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients – care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication.” ― bell hooks
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” I Corinthians 13:4-7
“Abuse and neglect negate love. Care and affirmation, the opposite of abuse and humiliation, are the foundation of love. No one can rightfully claim to be loving when behaving abusively.” ― bell hooks
