On Monday, I begun the discussion about Betrayal Trauma. Today I want to provide some steps to healing. #1 – Recognize that betrayal trauma is not just emotional but physical. You have to do more than just talk about. Mindfulness, meditation, prayer, or yoga have been found to be helpful. #2-Figure out want makes you feel safe, and stable. Do those things. #3 Avoid using alcohol and drugs to dull the pain. #4 Rest and sleep; #5 Connect with others who are safe, nonjudgmental and stable #6 Acknowledge the anger, hurt and pain. But also realize that such emotions will eventually pass. #7 Regain faith, confidence and trust in yourself. Take small steps daily to trust yourself again and make meaning of what you experience.
